Animal sanctuaries with an ethical outlook on animals’ wellbeing have a magnetic pull on me; and I was pleased to have the time to visit the Exotic Animal World.
It is a home provided for the unlucky animals (especially the nonindigenous) who cannot be returned to the wild and have nowhere else to go. This is normally due to circumstances such as the immoral pet-trade. They’ve been either confiscated or surrendered.
Once formerly called The Butterfly World for being a garden park with butterflies, the place has evolved into becoming a place of refuge for animals in need of a place to go to.
The park has an interesting maze-feel layout where one can wander along the winding pathways and over bridges, while learning about the resident animals as they pass by.
Not too far from the Exotic Animal World, is a Biblical garden called Salem. While meandering through the gardens and trees, there are fun displays, art exhibits and points of interest relating to stories in the Bible. A small outdoor museum has interesting demonstrations of artefacts, such as Hebrew inscriptions and other archaeological items that have a reflection to the Biblical history.
